Responsible? Please. She's just trying hide you from the truth. Just because a person has a tattoo, it does not distinguish the type of person that person is. There is no reason for you to think that a person is more of a.... lets say murderer, than one without. The assumption is ridiculous, and kinda sounds like shes being discriminatory - a great thing to teach a child, is that being responsible?
 
Well...I think I should perhaps say something about your mother too...

Your mom is a little judgmental, but I agree that she's a responsible parent concerned with your well-being. I can sympathize with her as a parent trying to shield her child from the corruptive forces in the media. However, I also feel that a tattoo isn't necessarily a sign of one's character, so I kind of feel like she should try to expand her own horizons and appreciate both morality AND diversity. I dunno...that's just what I think.
 
you know what, some people get tattoo's to distingush themselves from society, it is a statement about who they are, so, in all honstey it can say who they are, but otherwise they get them to look cool
 
Eh, sure some do, but there is no way for someone who just met the person to make that judgement. Thus that argument is flawed.
 
Some people get them because they like them. Not to look cool. Not to remove themselves from society (which is total bullshit. everyone and everyone's dog has a tattoo or piercing).
I don't think sheltering children is in any way responsible. People need to be prepared to deal with reality the way that it is- not the way we want it to be.
