Gears of War Background Gears of War's cover system, an integral component in the title's gameplay, owes much of its inspiration to Namco's oft overlooked third person action game kill.switch, which was released in 2003 and also relies heavily on a similar cover system. Another inspiration for Gears of War was revealed to be Capcom's survival horror opus Resident Evil 4, mainly due to its reliance on offset camera angles that fail to obscure the action. Top 10 Games of 2008 Well after reading the Lev Grossman's top 10 video games of the year in Time, it got me thinking. I'll preface it by saying I don't own a PS3 so I can't comment on games like MGS4 or Little Big Planet. However, I've heard LBP is plagued with awful online issues and those are pretty much the only decent exclusives for the system this year. Also, I'm playing through Prince of Persia and Tomb Raider Underworld right now, so I can't comment on where, if anywhere, they fit in on this list. [Read More] |
